What do Cub Scouts do?

Cubs take part in a wide range of activities that are designed to be interesting and to challenge them. At the same time they have fun, adventure and make friends along the way. They take part in choosing badges that interest them, play lots of games and do a huge range of different activities from cooking to science experiments, from sports to craft projects. There is also a bigger emphasis on outdoor activities and scouting skills. These include adventurous activities like archery, climbing and canoeing, as well as camping, building fires and first aid.

Cub Scouts meet together as a Pack and work within small groups called Sixes. Each Six is lead by a Sixer, helped by a Seconder. The Pack can also have Senior Sixers, who are experienced and strong Sixers that can help any Six. We work towards badges and awards as a Pack, doing different things every week. There are also badges Cubs can complete in their own time. See what we're doing this term here!

Cubs have a Promise and a Law:

The Cub Scout Promise:

I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

The Cub Scout Law:

Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.

More information about the Promise and alternatives can be found here.

Chief Scout Silver Award

The highest award a Cub can achieve is the Chief Scout Silver award. In 2015 - 2016, eight Cubs were successful in achieving this award:

  • Dominic Wasey

  • Kenna Abate

  • Callum Shallcross

  • RJ Watson

  • Alice Abate

  • Jamie Anderton

  • Kristan Davies

  • Misha McGurk

The Pack is very proud of our Chief Scout Silver Cubs, as this award represents hard work and achievement in a number of different areas. We look forwards to awarding more of these in the coming year.
