Scouts is all about fun, challenges and adventure.

 

We are part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation, with over half a million young people and adults invovled. Scouting was founded in 1907,  so we have over 100 years experience in changing the lives of young people. We do this by offering fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. We help Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

 

What do Scouts do?

 

Scouts can take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to fly a plane. There’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.

Our Scout Group has been open since Scouting began in 1907, meaning we will be celebrating our 110th birthday in 2017. We run a successful group, with Beavers (6-8 years), Cubs (8-10.5 years) and Scouts (10.5-14 years) taking part in exciting and varied programs, before moving on to one of our three District Explorer Units. We also have a close-knit and supportive team of adult leaders, who support all three sections at weekly meetings, on trips and on numerous camps.
